Friday has been one of my favorites for years, ever since I read the book and saw this Whelan painting up close at UConn. I was taking a course in Science Fiction literature (what else does an EE major take for his English lit elective?). Our professor knew Whelan and got him to show his paintings at the UConn library for a couple of weeks and then came in and gave the class a lecture on his art and scifi. I was in heaven. That semester I read Friday for the first time and have probably reread at least a dozen times since. For a recent actress I would nominate Amanda Tapping. Check out:
